Getting
started with the Tree Planter's Record System (TPRS)
What can TPRS do for me?
Congratulations for using the Tree Planter's Record System
(TPRS). This software makes it easy for you to record what you
have planted, what sorts of tending you have applied and when, and also
encourages you to record important features of your property that are
relevant to decisions you'll need to make about your trees from time to
time. Information you record can be used by helper programs
(dubbed "plugins") that can assist you with decisions relating to your
trees. In addition, TPRS allows you to attach notes, documents,
spreadsheets, and digital images to trees, plots, stands, paddocks, or
properties, thereby acting as an efficient filing system for all your
forestry records and observations.
TPRS is aimed at small woodlot owners, many of whom may have limited
experience with forestry. For this reason every attempt has been made
to keep things simple while retaining just enough detail to keep you on
track.
TPRS's inventory plugin now provides estimates of carbon
sequestered by your trees.
How is the getting started manual organised?
Read through the links below in
order, keeping TPRS open next to your browser after you have installed
it. From time to time you'll be encouraged to record some
information in TPRS. By the end of your reading you'll already
have the backbone of your record system, and you should be able to
proceed with little further prompting. We recommend that you keep
this manual open in your browser as you use the program for the first
time.
