Attaching images and documents to your records

What sorts of documents or imges can be attached to my records?
Just about any kind of document or digital image can be attached to a record in TPRS.  You can attach external spreadsheets, word processor documents, text files, pictures, pdf documents and so on.
Does the system make copies of the documents?
No.  The documents exist in folders on your system, and you simply tell TPRS where they are, and (optionally) what programs should be used to display them.  In a sense, TPRS acts as an organiser, not a copier, so if you delete the original then the reference within TPRS will no longer be valid.
How do I attach external documents or pictures?
Select "Record notes and pictures entry" from the element menu.  TPRS will look like this:

On the right hand screen you can record the subject, set a date for the entry, and then choose to type notes directly into the Notes panel, attach an external file in the file browser panel (placing the mouse over a button will reveal some text explaining what each one does), or attach pictures in the image browser section.
How do I view documents and images?
The "Extension configuration" button lets you tell TPRS which programs should be used to view different types of files.  Each file will have an extension such as ".doc" for Microsoft Word documents, or ".xls" for Mirosoft Excel spreadsheets.  After you have added a document to the file browser list, press the "Extension configuration" button to navigate to the program that should be used to it.  At present some versions of Microsoft Office (version 2003 for instance) will not allow this type of functionality - we are working on the problem.

After images have been attached, thumbnail images will be generated, and you can use TPRS's viewer to look at images:
